How to use it well
Pick the book you actually loved, not the one you think you should name. The recommendations are built from what connects to your seed, so an honest seed gives honest results.
The mood filter matters more than the era one. “I want something like this but funnier” is a real request, and it changes the list substantially. “Something like this but from the 1970s” usually just narrows it.
Why each recommendation has a reason attached
A list of eight titles tells you nothing. The useful part is the two sentences explaining what specifically connects each book to the one you named — the narrator’s unreliability, the structure, the particular kind of quiet. That is what lets you skip the six that are not for you and go straight to the two that are.
If a reason reads as generic marketing copy rather than an actual observation, ignore that recommendation. It is a sign the connection is thin.
A note on accuracy
Every title returned should be a real, published book. If you get one that does not appear to exist, that is a failure worth ignoring rather than working around — search the title before you go looking for it in a shop.
